Rector’s scholarship awarded on the grounds of academic or artistic achievements

Please first become familiar with general information about rector’s scholarships in the article “Who can receive a rector’s scholarship? On what grounds?” and information about the right to apply for scholarships/grants – including a rector’s scholarship – in the article “What conditions one needs to meet to be eligible for a scholarship/grant?”

Information for the academic year 2024/2025 

  1. Academic achievements on the basis of which a student may apply for the Rector's scholarship are considered only those dating to the academic year 2023/2024, listed in Appendix no. 5.3 to the Regulationsdownload file.
  2. Artistic achievements on the basis of which a student may apply for the Rector's scholarship are considered only those dating to the academic year 2023/2024, listed in Appendix no. 5.4 to the Regulationsdownload file.
  3. The academic achievements referred to in item 1 need to be related to programmes (fields of study) taught at KU.
  4. The academic or artistic achievements entered by the student in their e-application shall be confirmed by the Team for the Assessment of Scientific and Artistic Achievements (hereinafter referred to as the Team) in certificate no. 5C or 5E, respectively (the student addresses the Team via the mykozminski system with a request for the issuance of said certificates).
  5. Documents confirming the attainment of the academic or artistic achievements entered in the e-application should be submitted via mykozminski to the Team with a request to issue certificate no. 5C or 5E.   6. In addition to certificate no. 5C or 5E, the student shall submit a certificate no. 5F regarding their course of study together with their e-application. The student addresses the relevant KU student office with a request for a certificate 5F through the mykozminski system. 
  7. A first-year student of a second-cycle (graduate-level) programme or a single-cycle master’s degree programme, who was a student of a first-cycle (undergraduate-level) programme at a university other than KU in the academic year 2023/2024, is obliged to present a certificate from this university providing the following information:
  • grading scale,
  • date of thesis defence,
  • number of semesters completed by the student as part of their studies in the academic year 2023/2024,
  • whether the student repeated a year/semester in the academic year 2023/2024
(the certificate from the previous university should be submitted via mykozminski to the relevant KU student office along with a request to issue certificate no. 5F).
8. The Team consists of 2 students delegated by the Student Council and an employee of the Research and HR Development Office: The Head of Learning Outcomes Reporting, acting as the leader of the Team.
  9. Based on the submitted applications with confirmed academic or artistic achievements, the Grants Committee draws up a ranking list for academic achievements and a ranking list for artistic achievements.

10. The ranking lists referred to above will include the student’s details, their academic or artistic achievements from the academic year 2023/2024, and the number of points assigned to each achievement, in accordance with Appendixes no. 5.3 and 5.4 to the KU Student Support Regulations (regulations on the benefits granted to students) - lists will be ordered by score, starting with the highest number of points.
 11. Scientific conferences:
  • with an international reach are understood as conferences in which at least 1/3 of active participants have represented foreign scientific centres;
  • with a national reach are understood as conferences with active participation of representatives of at least 5 scientific centres;
  • with a university-wide are understood as conferences in which more than half of the active participants have been representatives of 1 scientific centre.
 
   12. Only published publications are considered for assessment.
  13. Points are awarded for artistic achievements in the following fields: literature, music, dance, visual arts, theatre, film.
   14. Artistic achievements:
  • with an international reach are understood as events in which at least 1/3 of the participants are from abroad;
  • with a national reach are understood as events in which at least 1/3 of the participants are from outside the province in which the event has been held.

15. If a student receives more than one award in a given competition/contest or festival, only the single highest-scoring achievement shall be taken into account.
